Just Playing

Caden loves it when people come over to visit him, and he was especially excited for his cousins Noah and Delilah to come over for while Josefine went to a job interview yesterday.
Delilah was so cute wearing the guitar.  It's almost as big as her, and she was having a little trouble walking with it.  I asked her to smile for the picture, but she shook her head no at me. I think that she was too intent on eating her string cheese.

Noah and Caden are actually getting along better, and not fighting as much as they used to.  I guess that they are finally learning how to share.  They were so cute both looking at this book together.

Lunch time!

Caden's New Buddy

In the past Caden and Duke never really got along that well.  Caden still bugs him sometimes, but Duke actually lets Caden pet him sometimes too.

Cooking

We were at Grandma Shobe's house on Friday, and Caden was fascinated with her little toaster oven.  He had to put on his apron and "cook" for us.  He did actually figure out how to turn it on.

So Smart!!

Look what Caden can do!

Just Because

Matt surprised me with these flowers yesterday when he came home from work.  I think that they are so beautiful!  It's funny because when I was a kid I never remember my dad buying flowers for my mom, but I do remember my mom saying that she thought that it was a waste of money.  I always thought that I agreed with her because even though they are pretty they don't usually last very long.  Well over the past 10 years I have been on the receiving end of lots of pretty flowers from Matt. Last week I was thinking that it had been awhile since I had gotten any flowers, so I may have mentioned it casually to Matt.  I guess that the point is that I have grown to love getting flowers, and I don't think that they are a waste at all.  Not only do I get to enjoy their beauty, but I like knowing that Matt was thinking about me too!

It's a bird, it's a plane, it's Superman!

Caden got these fun Superman pajamas complete with a cape.  Well he insisted on wearing them for three days.  While he was wearing them he would say things like "I am going to save the world." and "I will rescue you!"  When he couldn't reach something he would tell me "I am going to fly up there and get it!"  He was so cute and funny.  I think that things must've been seriously boring around here before Caden was born!

New Use For Toothpaste

Matt and Caden found a new use for my stockpile of toothpaste.  Who needs dominos?

Caden's Tools

A couple of weeks ago Caden was helping Matt make peanut butter chocolate things, and it was his job to smash up the graham crackers.  Caden was pretty smart and went and got his toy hammer to smash them.  He loves all of his tools, and he always has to get his out if Matt is fixing something around the house.  We also use a screwdriver and hammer when we go scorpion hunting, so of course Caden has to carry his around too.  He is such a good helper!

Belmont Park

Before heading home yesterday we decided to go to Belmont Park right on Mission Beach.  Caden rode a couple of rides and we looked in the shops a little bit.

Sea World

We also went to Sea World while we were in San Diego.

Our family

The boys loved the Sesame Street area since the rides were just their size, and we spend quite a bit of time there.

We were all dying since it was super hot, and my dad bought the boys these matching hats to keep the sun off of them.  I wasn't sure that Caden would wear his hat, but he actually loved it.  He is even wearing it around the house today!

My parents

We watched the Blue Horizons dolphin show.

Matt and Caden posing with the performers from the show.

Max waiting for the Shamu show to start.

How come my Vincas can't look like this?

Checking out the polar bear.

Beluga Whales

Caden got a cute stuffed polar bear.

He wanted to "read" the map too.

We fed the Sea Lions just like I got to do when I was a kid!

This one was yelling at us for more but at a cost of $7 for 5 fish he definitely wasn't getting any more!

We left for a little while to eat dinner, and then we went back for the night Shamu show.  We also got to ride on the new Manta roller coaster twice and the Atlantis roller coaster twice.

Mission Beach

We went on a family vacation to San Diego with all of my family including my parents, my brother and his girlfriend, and my sister and her family who live in Texas.  Matt said that it reminded him of the Griswold family vacation movies, and I'll admit that everyone didn't always want to do the same things.  We still had a lot of fun though, and it was definitely nice to get out of the heat (although 76 degrees does feel hot when you're out in the sun all day!).  I also have to say that I'm not quite used to driving so far since we got to fly for free for so long.  I am definitely missing that perk from US Airways!

This first day of vacation we went to Mission Beach.  Caden didn't want to swim since the water was freezing, but he liked playing in the sand.  Here he is playing with Christina.

My mom, Max, and Caden playing in the sand some more.

Sarah, Madelyn, and my mom.

Our little family

Mikey and Christina.

Steve and Max.  Max loved the water and he was not scared at all!

Hair Cut

Matt usually cuts Caden's hair himself, so Caden had his first paid for hair cut on Friday.  Great Clips was having a really good sale plus it's always such a fight when we cut his hair at home.  He was way better at Great Clips then at home!  I do have to say that the hair cut wasn't really much better then when Matt does it though.
