Trunk or Treat

We went to our ward trunk or treat on Saturday afternoon.  I say afternoon because it was from 4 to 6pm.  Personally I thought that it would've been funner if it was dark not to mention that we were sitting outside sweating while we were eating chili and soup.  Not to complain or anything though.   There were a ton of kids, and we ran out of our humongous Costco bag of candy in no time.

Here is Caden in his costume.  He was Jake from the show Jake and the Never land Pirates.

I have to brag a little and say that Caden was awesome at all of the games!  He made every single bean bag throw.

He knocked down the pigs at the Angry Birds station with a slingshot, and

he knocked down the cans with the ball.  I have to say that I was pretty impressed by all of this.

The one game that he failed to win was the cake walk, but hey I'll take winning games of skill over games of chance any day!  (Plus he had plenty of sweets!)

Bull Riding

We went to the Pool Industry Picnic at Kiwanis Park last weekend because we were invited by Cal Plastering, which is where I used to work.  I guess that they still love me around there! :)  It was really good to see everyone that I used to work with!  They had all kinds of yummy food plus a bounce house, petting zoo, and bull riding.  Really the bull riding was the highlight because Matt did it, and it was hilarious! I think that he lasted for all of 3 seconds until the guy felt bad and went a little easier on him.  It was quite amusing to say the least.

Basketball

We signed Caden up for a basketball class through the Town of Gilbert Parks and Rec, and he had his first class yesterday.  Caden had so much fun, and the coach was so good with the kids.  They practiced dribbling and shooting baskets through a hula hoop.  Hopefully this is just the beginning to his playing lots of sports! :)

The Arizona State Fair!

Matt got some free tickets for the fair from his work, so we went on Wednesday.  My mom came along too, and it was $2 ride night so that was good!
We got to see all of the sheep and the livestock.  This sheep was really excited to be petted and came right up to us.

They also had a petting zoo.  This is Caden kissing the Wallaby.

Petting the mama and baby goats.

BIG tractor!  Funny story about tractors.  We were driving yesterday and we saw a tractor driving really slow and blocking the road.  While this is usually pretty annoying to me Caden really enjoys seeing the tractors.  Yesterday he told me that he is going to grow big and drive a tractor, and that he is going to be a tractor man.  He is so cute.  It actually reminds me of my little brother who always use to say that he wanted to be a backhoe operator.  Boys are funny!

The big slide!  I think that Caden was pretty scared of this, and he told me that he didn't want to ride it again.  Actually I admit that I was a little scared of this once we got to the top, and I saw how far down it was.

We went in the haunted house which I wasn't really sure how Caden would react.  Well I thought that it was pretty lame, and Caden seemed okay about it afterwards.  He slept all night too, so I guess that I meant no nightmares from it.

Riding the carousal with my mom which is always a favorite!

He also really loved watching the model trains go around the track.

He was excited about the bumper cars until the first time that he got hit, and then he was done with that.  He was actually cracking me up because he was making mean faces at the kid in front of him before the ride started.

We also rode on the biggest Ferris Wheel ever.  I am not really the biggest Ferris Wheel fan, and this went up really high.  Good thing that we didn't stop at the top for very long!

Vertuccio Farms

We went to the fall festival at Vertuccio Farms (on Power and Warner) this morning.  There was so much to do, and Caden had a blast.

I thought that he was pretty strong just for picking up the huge mallet, and he actually managed to make it go up a little too.  It was actually really funny to sit and watch people do this.  Pretty much every single man that walked by (and a lot of women) had to show off their strength (a lot of them were embarrassed afterwards!).

Caden loved the bounce house as always!

Caden and I went for a little train ride.

They also had this huge bounce thing that looked like a big pillow.  It was pretty bouncy, and Caden kept falling down.  He had fun just being bounced around though.

I'm pretty sure that the swings were a hit since we spent like an hour there, and he kept begging to go back.  I wish that the parks around here had more swings.

There were also a bunch of animals to pet

and feed.

About 2 seconds later the turkey pecked him on the hand.  Apparently I should've seen this coming after seeing this picture.  Not to worry though because it didn't draw any blood.

The baby goats were so cute!

Milking a "cow."

We also took a little stroll through the corn maze.  At first it was kind of cool, but then it was hot.  I really just wanted to find the exit.  Apparently it is called a maze for a reason.

Yay for Halloween!

There are a few people in our neighborhood who like to go all out for Halloween, and Caden especially likes to walk around and look at the decorations.  Maybe I'll shop the after Halloween clearance sales and we can do ours next year!

Last year Caden talked about the house with the big spider for months!  It was seriously like February, and he was still asking to go see the big spider.  It's a good thing that they put it up again this year!

Happy Birthday to Me!

My 31st birthday was on Friday.  It's funny how I used to look forward to having a birthday, but really since turning 30 I'm not that excited to be another year older.  I guess that there isn't really much that I can do about that.  At least it is fun celebrating a birthday!

We went to Joe's Farm Grill for lunch because it's free on your birthday.  It is so yummy, and it was actually nice to eat outside.  They have picnic tables under these huge trees, and an awesome view of their garden.  They grow all of their fruits nad vegetables right there.

My two boys!  Love this picture!

We celebrated with my family on Friday night.  My mom made flautas, bean dip, and homemade ice cream and Matt made a chocolate cake with homemade cream cheese frosting.

Matt was busy doing some things around the house so Caden helped me make the birthday cake for the party with Matt's family on Saturday.

He made sure that he got to lick the mixer.

On Saturday we had pizza and birthday cake at the park by our house with Matt's family.  We also played some volleyball while the kids ran around.  It was such a beautiful day to be outside!

Thanks everyone for making my birthday special!

Caden's Pictures

Caden got ahold of the camera the other day when I wasn't paying attention, and I thought that it was funny so see what he took pictures of.  I think that there must've been like 30 pictures, and a lot of them were out of focus.  In fact it was making me dizzy to look at them.  I was impressed that he was pretty good at getting his subject actually in the picture.  Here are some of the highlights.

Look at that cute dirty face.

His jack o lantern night light.

His favorite stuffed animal Daisy.

His Mater clock driving on the rug.

His bed.

Fun Outside

Last Saturday we spent pretty much all day outside doing yard work.  It was time to plant new flowers and the winter grass now that it is starting to get cooler.  It was so nice to finally be able to spend some time outside without dying of heat exhaustion, and our yard is looking pretty great now too!

Here are the flowers waiting to be planted.  I bought 16 six packs, so it was a lot of flowers!

We found this huge Praying Mantis in the flower bed.  Caden tried to touch him, and the Praying Mantis tried to get him.  It looked like he was doing some Kung Fu fighting.

We also found this huge grasshopper.

Here are some of my flowers planted.

I also trimmed up our rose garden since it was getting a little wild and out of control.  I couldn't believe how big that some of the thorns were!

Here is the pile of rose bush clippings that didn't fit in the garbage can.  At first I tried to smash them in, but the thorns poked me right through my gloves. Ouch!

We also colored in chalk on the patio.  Caden usually loves to have his hands traced with crayons, so he was really excited to have his whole body traced with chalk.  I had to do it in every color.
