Sarah's Baby Shower

My sister Sarah and her family are in town right now.  This is the last time that we will see them until her baby girl comes in January, so we had a baby shower to celebrate.  I wasn't very good about taking pictures, but here are the few that I did take.
Me, Sarah, and my mom

We had yummy breakfast foods.

Sarah with her cute baby belly.

Sarah, me, and Aunt Debbie

This is an adorable blanket that my mom made along with some matching burp clothes.  I love it!

While we were having fun at the shower Matt watched the boys.  He took them to Vertucci Farms on Power and Warner which had lots of fun things to do.

A hay bale maze.

Climbing

They saw geese and several other animals.  Matt said that they both liked the turkey and kept saying "Hi turkey."

"Excuse Me"

When someone is in Caden's way he is not usually very polite and he says "move it."  We've been working on saying excuse me instead.  Yesterday Duke decided that he was going to sleep on Caden's changing table.  When I put Caden up there to change his diaper I figured that Duke would get down, but apparently he was unwilling to give up his spot because he didn't budge.  I guess that Caden was feeling a little crowded because he kept saying to Duke "Excuse me. Excuse me." and nudging him with his elbow.  It was cracking me up.  I guess that he does listen sometimes.

Carnival

A preschool near our house had a free fall carnival last weekend so we decided to check it out.

 Caden loved the slide

and the jumping.

He played a few games (yes he was cheating).

We went for a ride on the train.  They also had music, cotton candy, popcorn, a petting zoo, and someone making balloon animals.  Caden had a blast.

And this is what happened when we made him go home.  I know we are so mean.

Mother Nature's Farm

Last night we went to this place called Mother Nature's Farm which is right by our old house on Baseline between Gilbert and Stapley.  When we lived there I always thought that it would be fun to go if we had kids, so now we finally got to go there.

We went on a hayride.

Caden got to pick out a little pumpkin.

Then he decorated it with stickers.

Here is the finished product.

Caden's favorite part was the bounce house.  We had to drag him out of there kicking and screaming.

Checking out the baby chicks.  They were so cute!

Marley Farms Petting Zoo

We went to Marley Farms Petting Zoo which is on Val Vista and Riggs yesterday.  They have all sorts of different rescue animals, and it was cool to see them all up close.  Caden wasn't feeling well (which we didn't realize until later), so I don't think that he had as much fun as he usually would.  We will probably go another time, so that he can enjoy it more.

 Petting the goat.
He wasn't too sure about the horns (and neither was I).

I'm not sure if these were Llamas or Alpacas, but they were pretty cool to pet.  Their fur was really soft and really thick.  They didn't seem too friendly, and would only let us touch them for a second,

This was a big camel.  He didn't come too close.

Matt and Caden were checking out an animal that kinda looked like a cross between a Zebra and a Horse.  We also saw parrots, turtles, chickens, donkeys, cows, pigs, sheep and horses.

New Bed!

So when I first got married I was excited to be able to share a bed with Matt because I was a newlywed and in love. :)  Our first bed was a queen size bed because that was all that we had room for, but it was big enough.  A few years later Matt started working at US Airways, so we were traveling much more and staying in hotels with nice big king size beds.  I have to admit that it was pretty nice to have all that space and not have to touch anyone while I was sleeping.  The queen size bed was still adequate though.  Well then Caden came along.  At first he never slept in the bed with us, but after he switched to his big boy bed it was just easier to put him in my bed when he came in my room in the middle of the night then get up and put him back in his.  The queen size bed was no longer adequate.  We decided that it was time for an upgrade.  We went out this weekend hoping to order the bed that matched our bedroom set in a king size instead of replacing the whole set.  I was not surprised to find that they no longer sell our bedroom set.  We were lucky to have a helpful salesman that had a king size bed in the clearance section that was exactly the right color and pretty close in style.  That's right I said in the clearance section.  How could we pass that up?   Apparently I must be sleeping really well in the new bed because Matt told me that Caden came in our room on Saturday night and came over to my side of the bed and stared at me, but I never woke up.   We've been better about putting Caden back in his own bed at night.  That means that although I am still in love (just not a newlywed) I have a whole half of a king size bed all to myself, and I am very much enjoying it.

Just Driving the Car

Caden thought that it was pretty fun to drive the car.

He had to adjust the radio to the correct volume. (Which was really loud by the way!)  Maybe he should concentrate more on the driving and less on the radio.  At least until he gets a little better at it.

"Here it Comes!"

Caden loves all trucks including the garbage truck.  Every Friday and Monday when he hears the garbage truck or the recycling truck he watches out the window and says, "Here it comes! Here it comes!"  It is so cute.  He'll seriously stay up there for like 20 minutes trying to see the garbage truck.

Surprise Party!

Matt threw me a surprise party for my 30th birthday on Saturday.  I was totally surprised.  Matt and I were out running errands and when we got back everyone had come early to decorate and hide. They all parked around the corner, so I didn't see their cars. They scared me to death when they all jumped out.  Matt grilled steak and chicken and we had some yummy cake of course.  It was really fun.  Thank you to everyone!

Loving the Weather!

We have been loving the cooler weather around here the last week or so.  We've had the windows open in the house, and we've been playing outside!  Caden loves going to play at Tumbleweed Park.
