Spring Break Fun!

Caden was on spring break from preschool the last two weeks, and we had lots of fun!

We made homemade slime.  Caden loved this, and he has played with it everyday since we made it.

We did a science experiment to see if the bag would leak when it was poked by a pencil, and it did not.

We made a snake chain.

We made homemade bouncing balls.  This experiment was a little disappointing.  They didn't bounce very high and they lost their shape.  Oh well, it was still fun to make them.

We saw Mr Peabody and Sherman at the movie with Grandma Nancy.  Caden also got to see Walking with Dinosaurs at the movie theater with daddy.

We went swimming at Mesquite Groves Pool 3 times.  It was heated!

We did the elephant toothpaste experiment.

Caden painted a rainbow using marshmallows for St. Patrick's Day.

I think he had more fun playing in the paint though!

We had a play date at the park with Caden's friend Porter.

We made Kool Aid play dough which smelled awesome!

We read all of these book plus some, and Caden did an awesome job writing them all down!

We did an exploding bag science experiment.

We went to the kids club at Superstition Springs mall twice.

We ate ice cream at Coldstone,. Yum!

Caden also made macaroni art.

The Zoo

Matt had a few days off this week, so we decided to go to the zoo on Tuesday.  We haven't been there in awhile because our zoo membership expired in November.  The weather was beautiful, and the animals were all pretty active.

Fire Station Tour

Caden and I went on a tour of the fire station near our house with a preschool group that we are a part of.  The kids were so excited!  Caden was the only one that knew you are supposed to stop, drop, and roll if your clothes catch on fire.

Caden and his buddy Porter.

The fireman got a call while we were there, so they ended up having to leave.  Luckily we stuck around chatting long enough that another crew showed up and continued the tour for us.

They got to see that the fireman isn't scary with all of his gear on.

This fireman was cracking me up because he was talking to Caden about how Caden fixes his hair.

Carrot

We are very sad to say that our kitty Carrot passed away on February 15th.  He was a scardy cat,  but he was such a sweet boy.  He loved sitting right next to us and always wanted lots of attention.  He always loved flowers, and you could always find him trying to get a drink wherever there was water running.  We aren't really sure what happened because even though he was 10 1/2 years old, but he seemed to be in good health.  This has been so sad for us, but we are so grateful to have had him as part of our family.  He will be missed.

Texas

We went to visit my sister Sarah and her family in Texas.

We got to be there for Max's birthday party.

Madelyn loved the frosting on the cupcakes. :) She kept trying to eat the bird poop on the bench because she thought it was more frosting. It was so funny/disgusting!

We played at the park and climbed trees.

We went to the children's museum.

My brother-in-law is a police officer, so Caden thought it would be fun to "arrest" Matt with real handcuffs.

3 cuties! We were sad to go home!

Carlsbad Caverns

Last week we went to visit my sister Sarah and her family in Texas, and we stopped at Carlsbad Caverns on the way.  It's only a few hours from Sarah's house, so they met us there too.  We only went on the big room tour because we had the kids, but it was really cool. It was about 850 ft underground. The cave was huge, and it had all of these really neat formations and really deep cliffs.  The temperature is a constant 55 to 60 degrees no matter how hot or cold it is outside.

The boys completed these workbooks and got to be junior rangers with a badge and everything.  They were so excited about it!

Science Center

I bought a 4 person pass for the Arizona Science Center from Groupon, so we went and Caden got to bring his friend Reagan too.  I don't know how much they got about the science, but they did have fun playing!

This was Caden's favorite part.  It made gross stomach digesting sounds and farted when you went down the slide. Reagan hated it though.  It's funny how boys and girls are different.

Seeing how erosion works.

This was a really cool screen that interacted with your body when you stood in front of it.

We got to see how much energy it took to light up different light bulbs.  The led were so easy to light up!
