Yummy Lunches

Caden doesn't really eat veggies unless they are mixed in with something that has a sauce, so he's not eating hardly any these days.  I've been having a hard time trying to come up with some healthy lunches for him that are easy to make.  He likes those Gerber meals in the cup, but really how good can it be when it doesn't even have to be refrigerated?  So, those Gerber meals inspired me to make my own meals.  I use to make his baby food, so this is pretty much the same thing.  Today I made a chicken potato chowder with veggies and cheese and creamed peas with chicken and brown rice.  I separated them into these little bowls and stuck them in the freezer, so I just have to heat them up in the microwave.  I am excited about these, and I hope that he likes them!  I was going to make spaghetti with meat sauce and whole wheat pasta too, but I ran out of time.  The electricity switched over to peak time, and I didn't want to be doing extra cooking during the expensive time. :)  I guess that I will tackle the spaghetti tomorrow.  What veggies do you think would taste good in spaghetti?  Hmmm  I am thinking corn . . .

Sleeping

This doesn't look very comfortable, but it works for me as long as he sleeps!

Troublemaker!

The house was a little too quiet, and when I went to see what Caden was up to this is what I found. He even had the door shut because he knows that he's not supposed to play in the bathroom. I usually lock the door since he can open closed doors, but I guess that I forgot this morning. He is definitely a clever little guy!

Caden Just Wants to Play

My parents were over the other day, and my dad fell asleep on the couch. Even though my mom and I were both playing with him, Caden wanted my dad to play too. He kept bringing the toys over to him. It was so funny!

Using a Fork

Caden fed himself with a fork today. I had to load it up for him, but he liked putting it in his mouth. He is getting so big!

Vegas Baby!

Matt and I went to Las Vegas on Saturday night. Our flight arrived in Vegas at 6pm on Saturday, and our flight home left at 6:45am on Sunday morning, We were planning on getting a hotel room, but the rooms were so expensive due to it being labor day that we decided to just stay up all night and come home first thing in the morning. I was a little worried if I would make it all night, but we had the best time ever! I think that this was definitely my favorite Vegas trip ever!
Of course we made it to the outlet mall, and I got a new Coach purse. I guess that Coach must've known that I was planning on going to Vegas because they sent me a 20% off outlet coupon last week. We all know that I can't pass up a deal (or a Coach purse for that matter)! I'm tired of carrying a huge diaper bag, so this purse is big enough to carry diapers and a sippy cup. I love it!
The reason that we went to Vegas was to see Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers play at Mandalay Bay. I LOVE these guys! I've been going to see Roger in concert since I was 15 back when he was in the Refreshments. They are my favorite band ever!

We had some time left to kill before our flight, so we headed over to the Stratosphere for a little bit of gambling. We usually like to play at the Stratosphere because they have reasonable minimums on all of the games unlike most of the other hotels. We are on a budget after all! :) We played Pai Gow for a while, but Matt decided that he wanted to play some craps. Pai Gow is definitely my favorite game. I also like craps, but it is easy to lose really fast so we went to play with only about 20 minutes left before we had to leave. Long story short Matt won $600 playing craps. He was the shooter, and he kept hitting all of the points. It was so crazy, and everyone at the table was super excited. There was this old guy playing, and he was betting a fortune. He probably had about $500 on each of the numbers plus a few hundred on the pass line. He was making a ton of money, and he started giving money to Matt too since he was winning so much. At first he gave Matt $25 every time that he hit a point, but then he started giving him $50 each time. The only requirement was that Matt had to bet the money and not keep it. At one point Matt had over $200 on the pass line. It was so crazy! It worked out good for us, and that guy too! We figure that the old guy probably won about $10,000 while Matt was shooting. We were almost late for our flight, but it would've been worth it even if we hadn't made it! It ended up being a profitable trip to Vegas, and that doesn't happen very often!

More Grilling Experiments

We made pizzas on the grill this week. It was so easy and yummy! I am definitely liking all of this grilling!

Quack Quack Quack

If you ask Caden "What does a duck say?" He says "quack, quack, quack." It is the cutest thing that I have ever heard!

Cleaning

Caden got the duster out of the pantry, and he knew just what to do with it. I guess that he is taking after his mama. He's seen me do this a few too many times. Hmmmm maybe he is ready for some chores. :)

Camping

We went camping with my parents up on the Mogollon Rim near Woods Canyon Lake over the weekend. We stayed in my parents toy hauler which is the only way to go camping if you ask me! Our campsite was only like 30 ft. from the edge of the rim, and we had the most beautiful view. It was awesome just to get out of the heat. It actually rained quite a bit, and we had to wear our jackets. The rain did mess up our plans to make smores over the campfire, so we had to settle with smores from the microwave. They still tasted pretty good though.
The cutest camper ever!

Caden loved being outside and running around. It didn't take him long to get used to the uneven ground, and he had no problem getting around.

Matt and Caden checking out the awesome view from our campsite.

We went on a little hike.

All six of us. We couldn't forget to put Kandy in the picture!
