4 Year Well Check

Caden went to the doctor for his four year old check up a few days ago.  He weighed 47.2 lbs (97%) and he was 43 in tall (95%).  He also got 4 shots, and he was such a champ.  He didn't even cry at all.  He is growing good, and is healthy!

Happy 4th Birthday Caden!

Caden woke up to a hallway filled with balloons!

He was so excited to open his present that he opened some of it before we even got up.  Apparently it was my mistake leaving it sitting on the counter. :)

We went to Red Robin with my parents, Mikey, Christina, and Grandma Shobe to celebrate.  That was his choice by the way.  He was so happy when they came out to sing to him.  He couldn't wait to wear this shirt either.  I bought it on clearance ages ago, and he talked about it all the time.

Super excited to open his presents!

He also was super excited about the Spiderman cake that he got to pick out at the store.

Sleeping with some of his new toys. :) I love this kid, and I am so happy that he is in our family!

Decorating

I've been searching for the perfect buffet for my kitchen for ages.  I had a really specific idea in mind, and it was hard to find!  I finally found this super cute buffet, and I love it!  It is actually vintage (probably for the 50's), and a lady refinished it for me.  I love the way it turned out!  I think that this is now my favorite spot in the house.

Here is a close up picture of my flower basket.  I actually made all the flower balls myself.  I did stay up working on it until 2 in the morning, but they turned out super cute!

The Stool

Don't be surprised if you come over to my house and trip over this randomly placed stool.  Caden has decided that he can do everything himself, so he carries this stool all around the house so that he can reach things.

Look at that innocent face!  (I'm not even sure what he was trying to get in this picture!)

He can now reach the fruit snacks from the top shelf!

He also uses the stool to reach the clothes hung up in his closet, and I will often find him switching outfits throughout the day.  He does love clothes you know!

Birthday Party!

We had a joint birthday party for Caden, Noah, and Cannon on Saturday since all of their birthdays fall in the same week. Caden and Noah turned four and Cannon turned three.  We  had some fun swimming at the Power Ranch Pool and eating pizza and cupcakes!

Excited to eat his cupcake!

The birthday boys

The craziness of three kids opening presents at the same time!

Summer Movie

(I know that this picture is awful, but it's the best one that I could get. )We have been going to the Harkin's Summer Movie on Friday mornings.  It only cost $7 for 10 movies, so it's a great deal!  Caden really enjoys going to the movies.  We got an extra ticket, so that we can bring people along.  Last week Grandma Nancy came and this week Noah came with us.

Swimming Lessons

Caden has been taking swimming lessons at Perry Pool for the past four weeks.  He is almost done with his 2nd session.  Each session is 2 weeks and lessons are everyday Monday through Thursday. I can't believe how good that he is doing!  He can actually swim now!  We still have to watch him close and help him a little, but he can swim a little ways.  He can also swim to the side by himself which makes me feel a lot more comfortable.   I am so proud of him!

Science and Art Class

We signed Caden up for a science and art class through the Town of Gilbert Parks and Rec just because we are trying to stay busy this summer and not be bored.  I was also worried that he would miss school a lot because he loved going so much.  So far we've only been to 2 classes but it has been fun and very messy.  (I wasn't really prepared for the messiness the first week, but I came prepared this week!)

The first week they painted using fruit and vegetables.  They painted with watermelon, corn, and lemon.  They also painted with kool aid.

They also made "ice cream" by mixing cornstarch and conditioner.

I didn't take any more pictures this week, but they did a little science experiment by mixing water and oil and then adding other ingredients such as salt, sugar, and artificial sweetener to see what would happen.  They also made gak by mixing glue with liquid starch, and then they got to play with it and color on it to make it different colors.  It has been really fun for Caden!

Swimming!

We have had so much fun doing a lot of swimming so far this summer.  I've even got some tans lines to show for it!  This picture was taken at Matt's dad's house, and we were swimming with The Cole's.  We've also been swimming a lot at the pool in Power Ranch and at Mesquite Groves pool.

11 Years!

Matt and I celebrated our 11the anniversary this year.  It's crazy how time flies!  We usually like to go on a trip together instead of buying gifts, and this year we went to Las Vegas.  We stayed at the Stratosphere because it was super cheap, but the trade off was that we got to do more stuff.  One night we went out to dinner at Capital Grill (Yum!), and we saw the Cirque Du Soleil show at Treasure Island.  We had so much fun!  Caden stayed at my parents house, and I guess that he had fun too because he has been begging to spend the night there again ever since.
